This film was inspired by O. P. Ralhan's Hindi film Phool Aur Patthar (1966). Thampi, being both director and lyricist, wrote the songs himself instead of relying on O. N. V. Kurup.

Thampi also wrote lyrics for Salil’s Malayalam films Vishukkani and Etho Oru Swapnam.
