Notes & Background

While staying in a hotel in Kathmandu, Salil heard a night guard humming a beautiful Nepalese folk song. Captivated, he learnt it from him — and this became the foundation of the immortal melody “Chhota sa ghar hoga”.

Song NK6 is the slow, lullaby-style version of NK1. It was not included in the final film, but is treasured by collectors for its rare beauty and Hemant Kumar’s heartfelt delivery.

“Naukri” remains an important early milestone in Salil’s Hindi film career, showcasing his melodic originality and lyrical partnership with Shailendra.
