Notes & Background

Jhoolaa (1962) contains some of Salil Chowdhury's most emotionally charged melodies — beautifully arranged and enriched with orchestral finesse.

The songs “Unse bichhaD ke” and “Ek samay par do barsaatein” are classics for their sweeping strings and poignant harmonic structure.

“Aag paani mein lagi” and “Sajnaa teraa dil” are extremely rare gems with no known alternate versions.

The last song, “Insaan ki zindagi hai”, appears abruptly at the end of the film and stops mid-way — no complete version is known to survive, making it one of Salil's rarest recordings.

With its blend of tenderness, melancholy and technical brilliance, Jhoolaa remains a cherished album among collectors.
