“Jeevan Jyoti” is remembered for its warm, melodious soundtrack and for its long-standing rarity — the LP was once a prized collectible among Salil admirers. The later CD release thankfully restored the entire soundtrack, including the dance music that was never widely heard.

Notes & Background

Jeevan Jyoti (1976) is a musically rich soundtrack where Salil blends folk, melody and lush orchestration with his signature finesse.

“Maujon ki Doli chali re” showcases Kishore’s effortless energy against Salil’s uplifting musical structure.

“Duniyaa rang badalti jaaye” is a remarkably evocative Lata solo, known for both its Hindi and Bengali versions.

Asha’s “Ye ghunghroo” (JJ3) is immensely catchy and melodically sharp — a typical mid-70s Salil creation.

The album was once extremely rare, until a CD release restored all songs, the title music, and even the lesser-known dance instrumental.
