Jeenaa Yahaan (1979) features a mellow, emotionally rich soundtrack by Salil Chowdhury, highlighted by the rare Lata–Yesudas duet “Hum nahi dukh se ghabraayenge”.

Sabita Chowdhury’s “Yehi to hai mere khwaabon ka jahaan” retains the unmistakable softness of Yogesh’s writing, while “O shaam aayee” remains one of Lata’s most delicate late-70s renditions under Salil’s direction.

Notes & Background

Jeenaa Yahaan is remembered today for its quiet, introspective mood — a perfect blend of Salil’s soft-melodic sensibility and Yogesh’s tender, philosophical lyricism.

The Lata–Yesudas duet (JY1) is one of the most understated gems of the 1970s, and remains highly sought after by collectors.

Sabita’s song and Lata’s “O shaam aayee” are classic examples of Salil’s late-period orchestration — minimal, elegant, deeply expressive.
