“Gehraa Raaz” is an obscure title in Salil Chowdhury’s filmography. Only two Salil-composed songs survive, both sung by Hemlata. Two additional songs in the film were composed by Raj Ravindar and are not part of Salil’s catalogue.

Notes & Background

Gehraa Raaz is one of the least-documented films associated with Salil Chowdhury. Only two of his compositions appear in the film — both sung by Hemlata, and both are melodically soft and intimate.

Song GR1 was written by Akhtar Romani, while GR2 was penned by Asad Bhopali. Interestingly, the film includes two more songs composed not by Salil but by Raj Ravindar.

Due to lack of proper commercial release and archival preservation, “Gehraa Raaz” remains an obscure but intriguing footnote in Salil’s musical journey.
