Notes & Background

Although Talat Mahmood first sang for Salil in Aawaaz (1956), it was Ek Gaaon Ki Kahaani that truly showcased the magical synergy between the two greats.

Songs like “jhoome re neela ambar jhoome” and “raat ne kyaa kyaa khwaab dikhaaye” remain among Talat’s most celebrated creations — timeless, emotive and immaculately arranged.

The Lata–Talat duet “haay koi dekh legaa” beautifully blends romantic charm with Salil’s intricate orchestration.

Even after nearly half a century, this soundtrack is considered one of Salil’s most melodious and emotionally rich works.
