Notes & Background

“Chhoti Si Baat” (1975) is one of the most beloved soundtracks of Salil Chowdhury’s later Hindi career — simple, melodic, and emotionally direct.

The tender and reflective “Na jaane kyun hota hai ye zindagi ke saath” (CB2) is considered one of Lata’s finest Salil renditions with its perfectly balanced orchestral arrangement.

“O jaan-e-man jaan-e-man” (CB1), featuring Asha and Yesudas, is another gem showcasing Salil’s seamless blend of Western harmonies with Indian melodic phrasing.

Mukesh’s “Yeh din kya aaye” (CB3) is full of innocence and optimism — a tone that beautifully matches the film’s narrative.
