Notes & Background

Jibon was an unsuccessful Bengali remake-like adaptation of the classic Hindi film Anand, and it barely ran for a week in theatres. Only pirated audio copies circulated, making the soundtrack extremely rare.

"Sudhu tomaari jonnyo" is notable but Suresh Wadekar’s Bengali accent made it difficult for many listeners to accept. The same applies to Bhupinder Singh’s otherwise melodious performance in "Jodi dupur na hotey sandhya ghanaay".

In contrast, Manna Dey’s "Jaani naa bujhi naa" stands out as the strongest song in the film — classic Salil melody, beautifully executed.

Dwijen Mukherjee reportedly recorded a Rabindrasangeet for the film too, but no trace of it survives.
