Notes & Background

Very little archival material survives from Bhor Hoye Elo (1953), but two songs remain known to collectors and music historians. The compositions reflect Salil Chowdhury’s deep engagement with folk idioms during this period.

“Ke Jaabi Aay”, sung by Geeta Mukherjee, is a tender, lyrical piece, whereas “Amaay Kichhu Khete Daao Ma” is a raw, earthy folk-inspired song performed by Mahananda Baul.

As with many Bengali films from the early 1950s, full prints and song recordings were never systematically archived, making the soundtrack of this film especially rare and valuable.
