Notes & Background

The film originally began production in 1980 under the title Antarghaat. A record (Inreco 222800537) was released that year, but the project stalled and seemed abandoned. Years later, the film resurfaced as Swarnatrishaa and was finally released in the early 1990s along with a new cassette of the songs.

The Hindi version titled Aakhiri Badlaa (initially “Sabotage”) was also released around the same period, with its own adaptations of the songs.

“Mone PoDe Sei Sob Din” is one of Kishore’s finest emotional performances, carrying the same aching sensitivity he expressed in “Koi Hota Jisko Apna” from *Mere Apne*.

“O Aamaar Sojoni Go” is widely regarded as a Salil masterpiece — a breathtaking combination of melody, orchestration and the unmatched voices of Lata and Kishore. A true gem in Salil’s discography.

Although the film itself wasn’t a success, the music remains unforgettable and cherished by Salil admirers worldwide.
